A day trip to Kutna Hora from Prague

After 2 days in Prague we have decided to visit Kutna Hora,a small town-museum close to the capital.I thought that 4 hours would be enough to spend there so we decided to go with the train at 12.00 and visit Vysehrad first.(A tip - if you can afford it,I recommend a whole day in Kutna Hora,there is plenty to see). Vysehrad is a beautiful and green place(in early April) and great for walks,going through the gate,the Rotunda. We also entered the Cathedral and the cementary. At the end of the park there is a small summer theatre and then come the views . The castle is located on a hill and there is amazing view to Vlatava river and the building roofs.

The time passed very quickly so we hurried to the train station(by the way - very nice building and well organised,easy to orientate there).The journey took us an hour but we were exploring the nature through the window so I couldn't feel how we found ourselves there.(A tip - check the schedule only for direct trains.It is only 75 km far from Prague so you don't have to travel more than one hour.)

We walked to the center(around 45min) in stead of taking a bus(only 10min) and I recommend that walk because you can see the whole town and also you don't have to miss the main attraction - Kostnice . This is an ossuary which is decorated all inside with bones and skulls,all done by the monks of the monastery that used to be located there years ago.

We continued to the town center where we visited the Italian Court, the Gothic church of St.James and then just hang out around the buildings.

It was time to go back and we took the bus to the train station.

We stayed one more day in Prague just enjoying the city,its streets,shops and restaurants. Since I turned from a tourist into a traveler I understood that besides the sighseeings and the famous places we have to pay attention on the little things - talk to local people,try their food and just forgetting about your map at least for a day.

Prague,my love - part two

For the second day in Prague (see my first day there) I have prepared mainly street walking program. We caught the tram to Ujezd station in Mala Strana ( Lesser town ) which is the modern and rich area in Prague. The first thing we saw was the memorial of the victims of Communism,such an awful view that only people who lived in that times could imagine it.

Then we walked along the street and reached a little railway station.This is where the Funicular starts from and reaches Petrin Hill.We wanted to go to the hill and enjoy the views but unfortunatelty it was in repair. I thought about walking to there but we decided that time won't be enough so we went on our way.


On our left side we saw the St.Nicholas Cathedral,where are organised some concerts and cultural events.

We turned right and mixed with the crowed towards Karluv most (Charles bridge) which is one of the most amazing bridges I've ever seen. There are statues along the bridge of different Saints. There are painters and art persons who sell their artworks.On the tower of the east side is situated the Museum of Charles Bridge.

We found ourselves again on Staromeske square. This time it was sunny,in the middle of the day and very crowded. People were circling around marveling the great buildings,church and clock tower. There was also a fair cause Easter was coming.We could try local food and enjoy some typical crafts.

Our walk went on through the little streets in the Old town where it was full of cafes and people.Small stores for souvenirs and museums were on every step and don't forget the beautiful architecture. We entered the Wax museum and Sex machine museum. They deserve to be seen. 

At the end of the walk we decided to go shopping at Fashion Arena Outlet Center. It's easily reached by metro A.Drop off at its last station Depo Hostivar and then there are buses on every 30min to the Outlet Center which are absolutely free.


Tired of walking all day we spent the evening in the best bar ever - Kozicka. Beers,chicken wings,Czech specialties,friends and rock music,everything we wanted. I was surprised to see so many foreigners because the bar is not very easily found.We were looking exactly for that place,cause I have read about it and I was not disappointed at all.

The nice sunny day was over and we were looking forward to the next one - a day trip to Kutna Hora.

Prague,my love - part one

Prague has always been like a dream for me - to feel its majestic power and see its ethernal beauties.

It was in January,2 years ago,when I called my friend in Nurnberg and told her :"Do you wanna meet in Prague in March?" She definitely loved the idea so we started to look for a hotel and I to search for the cheapest transport to bring me there.We found a great deal - hotel Vitkov(4*) got that promotion for 29 EUR per double room.For the end of March,only 10 min by tram from the center,it was a really good deal..

The day came,so me and my boyfriend took the bus from Sofia and started our 18 hours journey to Prague.We arrived at 5am,a little confused what to do in that hour but we managed to find tickets,got the bus and dropped our luggage in the hotel. Here we come,Pragueeeeeeee!

It was 7.30 when we stepped at Staromestke square,the main square in Prague. My dream came true! It was cold and windy but I was there and I didn't care for anything else at that moment.We took a coffee from the only one opened place and just enjoyed the sun,sitting next to the window and watching the beautiful square. Then we took a little walk through the narrow streets just enjoying the buildings.I have never seen so colourful facedes before!

We met Stefka and Alex at 11.00 and proceeded to Hradčany,the Castle of Prague. As we choosed the south entrance,we had the opportunity to walk through the streets on the hill,leading us to the Castle. And here it came! It took us 4 hours to go around(and it was not enough at all) - St.Vinus Cathedral, Zlata ulica, Deliborka Tower,Vineyard and so on and so on. To be honest I think the most amazing of all was the view - to see the whole city - buildings,towers,beauty...

The day ended with a wonderful Czech beer. As all beer lovers know the beer must be German,Belgium or Czech. Just don't miss it.
